User Reviews about Casio Men's WV300DA-7AC Waveceptor Solar Atomic Silver-Tone Watch

I've ordered the WV300DA-7AC from Amazon, not shipped yet, but I am concerned about two issues. (BTW, I rated it as 5 star so as to affect the composite rating as little as possible. I may change my opinion after I receive it.) First, there is a review here that recommends getting the 7AC because it is the same price as the 7A and is rated for a greater water resistant depth, the difference being 100 meters (330 ft.) for the 7AC, compared to simply "water resistant" for the 7A, which apparently means being protected to a much lesser depth. While I have scuba dived, I'm never going to do so with this watch, so the difference may be mostly academic, as a practical matter. Still, as the earlier reviewer said, why not get the greater protection for the same cost. My concern is that on the Casio website, the 7AC is not available, only the WV300DA-7A. Therefore, I question whether Amazon is in a position to sell and deliver what it is offering. The specs for the Amazon WV300DA-7AC clearly state water resistance to 330 feet. The Casio specs merely says "Water Resistant."

My second issue, which to me is the more important, relates to the Case Material, which is shown on the Amazon site as being "stainless-steel." Interestingly, the Casio specs do not make any reference whatsoever to the case material. There is another review here where the reviewer wrote the case was "metal-filled plastic with a stainless-steel applique." So, again, I wonder what I will be receiving, since Casio is silent on the case material and doesn't list the 7AC as EVER being available. They have an archive of discontinued models and show the WV300DA-7B, which had the white on black lettering, but they don't show the 7AC as being discontinued; there is no reference to it at all. Searching the Casio site for the WV300DA-7AC turns up a blank.

So my questions are "WHAT IS AMAZON SELLING?" and "WHAT WILL I RECEIVE?" Does the WV300DA-7AC even exist?

For the record, I've had several Casios over the years, that have been great, and I am now replacing a Waveceptor Databank 150 model that is no longer available. The band broke and is not replaceable. I had to decide whether to go Waveceptor or Databank, then realized I hardly use the Databank anymore, since I always have the same data (and a lot more) with me in the form of my smart phone (iPhone). Therefore, the WV300DA-7AC or WV300DA-7A seems to fill my needs, except I hope I get a stainless steel case, and not plastic. My guess is that Casio no longer makes a Databank Waveceptor model for that reason; it is no longer needed by consumers, or, to put it another way, most of those of us who stored data in their watches now have smart phones.

It seems funny to say you enjoy a watch. But just the fact you don't have to buy batteries anymore and the time is always correct and the large numbers made this a very worthwile purchase.DT from MD -- Couldn't be happier
I'm very pleased with this watch. Numerals are good size, functionality is excellent. Do note, however, that a pin remover is not needed to adjust band size. Removal of segments is done by a sliding action that can be implemented with the end of a paper clip. -- Great Watch
I have worn this watch nearly everyday since I bought it in January 2008, so after 2 years I think I can say I know this watch very well. The first thing to point out is that there is a 7A which is water resistant and a 7AC which is water resistant to 100 meters. Get the 7AC for the same price.

The watch band was easy for me to adjust myself and the operation of the various functions is very intuitive which is unusual in digital watches. I can easily set multiple alarms, we use the timer for raising the blinds at our poker games. Changing time zones is a snap.

I travel quite a bit, and only rarely do I find a hotel in the US where the watch doesn't sync. It syncs every night from my home in NC.

After 2 years the watch still looks good. Scratches in the stainless aren't that noticeable and the crystal is in great shape. There is no discoloration and I'm quite happy with it.

Of course with the sync function the watch is very accurate, but on its own its just a second per week fast which i tested on a 2 week trip to Europe. I could just be lucky, but that's very accurate for a watch in this price range.

The battery still shows a full charge and I'm curious to see how long it will last.

I've looked and looked and you cannot find a sleekerr solar atomic watch. At 7.6 mm thick, the next thinnest is about 13 mm. The width at 33 mm is the only watch less than 42mm. All in all its the perfect watch for me. I'm thinking of getting a second one just in case they discontinue it so I have a back up. -- A perfect watch
I have been pleased with my watch. It is the smallest and most attractive waterproof atomic watch that I have been able to find. The numbers are large enough that even my old eyes can read them. It would be nice if it would display the date and the day at the same time, but that is a relatively minor problem. The button on the front to turn on the back-light is a little difficult to press with large fingers.
Shortening the band was difficult, but possible. It is different than most of the watchbands that I have had and I could not find any instructions either in the manual or on the web. Some short instructions saying that you have to put a hard-sharp tool (like an ice pick) into the little hole in the bottom of the link, and slide it in the direction of the arrow would have been a tremendous help. It takes quite a little force to do it and if your tool isn't hardened steel, it will probably bend. -- Dennis
