I purchased this watch at a store because I'd been experiencing a run of bad luck with wrist watches and wanted to see if a pocket watch would turn this ill luck.

It most certainly did. It's practical for me because I'm forever doing things with my hands that kill wrist watches, but the pocket watch is out of the way, safe in its namesake. Furthermore, nobody expects to see pocket watches anymore as cell phones are quickly putting even wrist watches out of style. It's fun to see the looks I get when somebody asks for the time.

This design is basic with no bells or whistes. Time and date aren't automatically set or reset at Daylight Savings Time and there's no satelite in the sky telling my little watch I've strayed to far into another time zone, it doesn't even tell me whether it's morning or night but for me that works. It is perfect for first time Pocket-watch owners who want to see if the idea will work for them without forking out a lot of cash or worrying if it'll get scratched up.

I've enjoyed owning this watch for practical, aesthetic, and entertaining purposes. In fact, this simple little number has made me quite enamored with pocket watches in general. When the current battery runs down I intend to try and get it replaced. If I cannot I plan to simply purchase an identical watch to act as the functional staple in my new collection.

(by the way; I've tried but it doesn't seem to work too good for hypnotizing people into giving you cash. Sorry folks!) -- First pocket watch.

I had been looking for something simple and affordable.

It had been a good while since I had had a time piece, and I needed one that would get me to class on time. Pocket watches have always fascinated me, even with their simple mechanics, because of their literary quality (the fact that they look like they would fit perfectly into a Sherlock Holmes mystery) but they are growing increasingly harder to find.
